To Our Daddy You were and always will be our hero. We were your biggest fans and headaches at times. We never doubted the love you had for us. We will cherish that always. Thank you for all the memories, food, zip-lock bags, water, life lessons, tough love, talks on the porch aka hostage situations, tailgates, rides (even though we never wanted to wake you up), shopping trips, football games, for being our biggest fan, first photographer, and first love. To My Husband Love, faith, and family, through sickness and health, we fulfilled our vows. Until we meet again, I love you. Jackie R. Andrews of Kokomo, MS passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 4th, 2023, at Forrest General Hospital. He was born in Tylertown, MS to William Peters and Eva Mae Andrews-Brown and raised by his beloved grandmother Susie Andrews (mama). He attended Marion Central High School until 1970 and after integration, graduated with the West Marion High School class of 1973. He would always participate with both class reunions and most recently participated in Marion Central’s 50th class reunion. He briefly attended Jackson State University and then worked offshore for over 40 years in drilling, operations, and production. After retirement, he was truly a Jack of all trades with his business Mississippi Hickory Wood. One of his most loved business associates was Ross Hogan of Tylertown, MS. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. To the community Jackie was most fondly remembered as “Coach Jack.” Coach was an athletic instructor and mentor in baseball and football with: Trustmark Pee-Wee Football, Columbia Bank Pee-Wee Football, Dixie Youth League, East Marion Jr. High and High School, West Marion Jr. High and High School for over 30 years. He had no biological sons, but he was a father to many boys he raised to be men within the community. This wasn’t a position that he was placed in or had any formal training, it was his true calling. Food was another passion for Jackie, the term pitmaster described him to a T. Everyone that ever tased his BBQ and other cooking fell in love with it. His culinary skills were a gift, and his food was always made with love. Above all, Jackie truly loved and lived his life to the fullest. Most would say that he was truly the life of the party, and he would never hesitate to tell you how much he loved you. He was a proud founding member of the Eagle Up Club and you could often catch him at a tailgate smoking meat or frying fish. Southern Miss was truly his second home, and he would never hesitate to give you a ride, with a story and smile to go along with it to The Rock. The Eagle Up Club were his brothers and always will be. He as a pillar of the community, possessed a kindness that was unmatched, and it is an understatement to say that he will be truly missed. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years Jacqueline McNair Andrews, their daughters Nickie McNair (Courtney), Suzette Andrews, and Michaela Andrews, grandchild Makayla Ridley, uncles Clarence Washington and Leslie Jefferson, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, pets Febe, Diamond, Demon, and Smokie Norful. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Susie Andrews, mother and father, stepmother Roxie Peters, brothers Terry Peters and Donald Williams. A visitation for Mr. Andrews will be Friday, November 10, 2023 from 9:00am -11:00am at Pleasant Valley UMC in Foxworth, MS with the Funeral Services to follow at 11:00am.
