Mr. Derrick L. Tobias

January 18, 1982 - July 22, 2021

Mr. Derrick L. Tobias, 39 of McComb, MS, stepped out of this earthly life and into life eternal on July 22. 2021 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, MS. Mr. Tobias was born January 18, 1982 at Southwest MS Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS to Mr. Dennis and Mrs. Lucy Tobias. Derrick graduated from South Pike High School in 2000. After high school, he attended Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS and later transferred to Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS for a short time. Derrick always had a love for the outdoors and family. On his days while working for Gnots Reserve Tug Boat Company and Turn Services Tug Boat Company, he would lay on the barge and enjoy the sounds of the water. Because he wanted to be closer to home, he gained employment with Weyerhaeuser in Magnolia, MS, where he worked until his health said other wise. Derrick is preceded in death by his grandparents; Lucious(Geneva) Thornton, Sr., Charlene Richardson, David(Clarice) Tobias, Sr., his aunts; Maxine Pearl Lee, Ernestine Holmes-Mason, Jacqueline(Demp) Lewis, Clementine Thornton, Gloria Haynes, uncles; Lucious Thornton, Jr., Preston Lloyd Tobias, Fredrick Felder, Sr., and Clarence(Wubby) Haynes. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons; Darren and Kaden Tobias, parents Dennis and Lucy Tobias, his twin, Fredrick(Barbara) Tobias, Sr., his sisters; Denise Tobias-Lee, Micsha(Derrick) Woodall, his nephew, Fredrick De’Von Tobias, Jr., nieces; Alaina and Camilla Lee, Mia Baldwin, Madison and Marie Woodall, and a special friend, Brittney Peyton, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. The visitation for Mr. Tobias will be held Friday, July 30, 2021, at Craft Funeral Home in McComb, MS from 5pm until 7pm. His homegoing service will be held 11am Saturday, July 31, 2021 at East Fernwood Missionary Baptist Church in McComb. Pastor Jimmie J. Wilson is the host pastor, with Pastor Chad Williams serving as the eulogist. Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery.
