Mrs. Bobby Gean Smith

II Timothy 4:7–8 With hearts filled with gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Sister Bobby Gean "Peggy" Smith, who peacefully answered her Master's call. Sister Bobby Gean "Peggy" Smith was born on July 13, 1943, in Pike County, Mississippi, to the late Cary and Eva Varnado. She was the fourth of seven children born to this loving union. At an early age, Peggy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Springcreek Baptist Church in Kentwood, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Reverend Phillips. Her faith remained the foundation of her life, and she served the Lord with unwavering devotion. In April 1982, she was united in holy matrimony to Lee Smith, and together they shared a loving and devoted marriage. Peggy received her education in the St. Helena Parish School System in Greensburg, Louisiana. She faithfully served as a dedicated member of Springcreek Baptist Church for more than 30 years. During her years of service, she was an active member of the church choir, faithfully attended Sunday School, and joyfully participated in the life of the church. For a period of time, she worshiped alongside her husband at Oak Grove Methodist Church before returning to her beloved Springcreek Baptist Church, where she continued to worship and serve. Peggy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, quiet strength, and the love she freely shared with her family and friends. Her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering trust in God left a lasting impression on all who were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cary and Eva Varnado; her grandparents; and her elder brother. Though she has departed this earthly life, her precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Lee Smith; four loving sisters, Lillie Miller of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Della Simmons of Chatawa, Mississippi, Helen (Alton) Pounds of Kenner, Louisiana, and Betty Jefferson of Chicago, Illinois; one beloved brother, James (Jessie) Varnado of Kentwood, Louisiana; along with a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love and presence. While our hearts grieve at her passing, we rejoice in knowing that Sister Bobby Gean "Peggy" Smith has exchanged the cares of this world for eternal rest in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to inspire generations to come.
