Ms. Jordan Leigh Thomas

Celebrating the Life of Jordan Leigh Thomas “Jordan Leigh Thomas, known affectionately as “JT”, “Jo”, “Roomie”, “Sunshine”, and “Pumpkin”, departed her earthly home unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at HCA Houston Healthcare in Conroe, Texas. She was a vibrant and energetic young woman who lived life to the fullest, radiating positivity and embodying a zest for life. Born on October 4, 1988, in Memphis, Tennessee to loving parents, Jackie Simmons Thomas and Randy Thomas. Jordan was baptized at Olivet Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee at 8 years of age. She spent most of her younger years in Olathe, Kansas. She graduated from Olathe High School in 2007. Continuing her education, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, which also happened to be the alma mater of her parents, known at that time as USL. She later pursued and completed her MBA degree from North Texas University. With a passion for growth and learning, Jordan dedicated over 11 years of her life to Target Corporation, where she held various positions and ultimately was promoted to a District Store Director. Her energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and she was always seeking new opportunities to expand her horizons. Jordan was an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (“AKA”). Her involvement in this organization showcased her commitment to community and sisterhood. Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Jordan had a zest for life that was truly inspiring. She was adventurous and curious, always seeking new experiences and destinations to explore. Traveling was one of her greatest joys, especially when she could share those experiences with her girlfriends. Jordan’s favorite entertainer, Beyonce’, brought her immense joy, including being a member of the “Bey Hive” club. She never missed an opportunity to see her perform, no matter how many times she had seen her before! In addition to her love for travel, Jordan had a special God-given talent for decorating during Christmas, which is her favorite time of the year. Her eye for creativity led her to start her own business, “Deck the Hall Design,” where she shared her beautiful creations of Christmas décor with others during the holiday season. Jordan valued connections and relationships above all else. She radiated positivity and brought light into the lives of those around her. Her infectious energy and love for life will be deeply missed. Jordan leaves behind to celebrate her life, her mother, Jackie Thomas Wright (Dwayne Wright, loving stepfather); maternal grandparents, Nelson and Juanell Simmons; uncle, Larry Simmons (Anita); her precious godson, Kairo Auriene; and a loving godmother Jan Allen Knox. In addition, Jordan will be deeply missed by her loving blended family, Ike Wright, De Mel Cummings (Bryonne), niece, Brooklynn Cummings, niece, Kelsey Cummings and nephew, Marion Cummings. A host of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Jordan is preceded in death by her father, Randy Thomas, and paternal grandparents, L.C. and Faith Thomas. Let us remember Jordan for her vibrant spirit, her love for life, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts. Jordan’s favorite scripture: Isaiah 55:11: “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose which I sent it.”
